The Mighty Name of Jesus

The Name of the Jesus is majestic and excellent in all the earth. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11, KJV).

The Name of Jesus is the greatest weapon and greatest asset for a believer can possess. What a privilege and a blessing!! It is the only name which is above all other names. The name of Jesus surpasses every thing. We have many great names in this world but Jesus is a Superior and excellent name. Jesus’ greatest service to the world and to the church is connected with the cross. The Cross brought salvation to multitudes of people, resulting in justification.

Behind every great name there is an authority and power. A President’s or a Prime Minister’s Name is honored around the world during his mandate. Some are struggling and striving to get a name for themselves. But the Name of Jesus is a superior name than all the name of all gods and lords of the earth, heavens, and hell.

How did Jesus get such power and authority to back His name?

We read about that in the epistle. Phil: 2: 6-11 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  At the Name of Jesus every knee should bow of those in heaven that is all the angles, and those on the earth that is all people and of those under the earth that is all the demons.

However, in Him we received our birthright. In the new birth we change addresses and be in the Kingdom of Light. Colossians 1:13: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.  Proverb 18:10 say The Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and they are safe. His grace is amazing. Blessed be the name of our Lord He is the Most High God of power, He watches over his children and gives them strength, His eyes are on the righteous every day and hour. E. W. Kenyon says that His Name gives us the power of attorney to reclaim everything the devil has stolen from us.

The name of our Lord is indeed a "Strong Tower" and thank God through Him, we have perfect peace in our hearts and lives.  He is our refuge and strength who is always present.

His Name is mighty in Salvation, in Deliverance, Healing and in prayer.

His Name is mighty in Salvation

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12, KJV).

First of all, the name of Jesus is mighty in salvation for the lost. Salvation is a gift from God. God the Father so love the world that He sent His only begotten son and whoever believes in Him have everlasting life. There is no other name like the name of Jesus. As the angel spoke to Joseph: "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21). The name of Jesus is greater than all the sins of the world, death, hell and condemnation. As Jesus told his disciples, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6). When Jesus arrived here on earth, Israel, the apple of God’s eye, was suffering incredible oppression and depression.  O’ God, save us now are their prayers.

“Hosanna to the Son of David!  ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’  Hosanna in the highest!” (Matt. 21:9)  These are the words that greeted Jesus Christ as He made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem just before He was crucified. Hosanna is a Hebrew term that is best translated as a prayer - “Save, we beseech Thee” or “Save now.”  The quote comes from Psalm 118:25-26 and means: save, save now, to be saved, delivered, or liberated.  It was more than a cry of enthusiastic public approval; it was a plea from an oppressed people to their Savior for deliverance and salvation.

His Name is mighty in Deliverance

His Name is also mighty in deliverance. As believers in Christ Jesus we have power to cast out devils. Jesus said this is a sign for using His name against the power of darkness. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; (Mark 16:17a, KJV).

This is power and authority in the spiritual realm over Satan and his cohorts, the demonic powers. This authority is given not to preachers or pastors only, or to special people, but to all those who believe in Him.

Sometimes Christians feels pity over the devil, disease, depression, relationship problems, and deception.  You can send the devil on his way by using the mighty name of Jesus. You can break the devil's power over people that are possessed or oppressed of the devil.

The name of Jesus is not a magic password. The authority to use the name of Jesus comes from being in right relationship and intimacy with the Lord. His Name is however a mighty weapon in the hand of the true believer. When we make Jesus Lord and Savior of our lives then it is our responsibility to use His name. The Bible says, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. . ." (Romans 10:13) By making Jesus Lord of our lives, by bowing our knee to the King of Kings, then He makes us His representative and His ambassador on the earth and gives us the right to use the name of Jesus.

His name is mighty in Healing

There is healing in the mighty name of Jesus. The ministry of Jesus in the Gospel is a healing ministry. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8, KJV). The very first miracle the apostles did was when they rightly understood the power in that Name. They did not have any unsuccessful attempts or go to any university to learn the skill or technique of using the name. It was simple and pure faith in that NAME.  While they were casually walking towards the temple for their regular prayers. There the beggar was asking for alms. They said silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give unto you. In the Name of Jesus rise and walk. Jesus healed him completely to the extent he jumped, rose, began to walk.

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God: (Acts 3:6-9).

When the people saw that mighty power of God, they thought that Peter must be a super saint, but he explained that it was not his power or holiness which made the man whole, but the mighty name of Jesus.

And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. (Acts 3:16). Therefore have faith for healing in the mighty name of Jesus!

His name is mighty in Prayer

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14, KJV).

Our prayers are to be directed to God the Father, "in Jesus name." By that name we can come with boldness to the throne room of God. Heaven will listen to that wonderful name so we have the right to pray in Jesus name. Nothing is impossible for our God.

He is a miracle working God; He can roll back the waters or calm an angry sea,

Trust in the Lord and believe in his words. Every day his mercies are new, by his Spirit we receive power, and strength to make it through.

Jesus said: "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." (John 16:24). So beloved child of God begin to use the name of Jesus in prayer. Believe in that wonderful name and you will see tremendous results. The power of God is released when that Holy Name is pronounced with awe and reverence. Smith Wigglesworth says: the very reason the Acts of the Apostles was written because the Apostles acted on the name of Jesus. In His Name we have Victory. His name is wonderful and to be praised.  May He will reach down to the lost to bring them to the cross. His name has power to save and heal, and set the captives free. The name of Jesus can touch and change lives, Because of his sacrifice on Calvary's tree.

Open your heart today – Jesus is standing waiting to come in. He is waiting to speak His words of life to your heart. He is waiting to lift your cares and your burdens and your worries. He wants to pour out His abundant blessing and provision upon your life.  All you need to do is receive Him! Welcome Him to come and be Lord and King into your heart. Then all you need to do is rest in His presence and follow His direction.

Pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I’ve been a sinner for a long time. I never knew the joy of salvation in my life. I know that you will hear my prayers. I need you to be my Savior and Lord of my life. You have always been there for loving me.

Forgive me for all of my sins.  You died on the cross for me. Please come into my life to wash away all of my sins. I desire eternal life.  Today, I believe with all my heart that you died and rose from the dead to give me life. I believe and confess that Jesus is Lord, and I know that as from now I am saved. I love you Lord Jesus, with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name. Thank you Father, for making me a child of God and giving me the right to use the mighty name of Jesus.  Amen

Word of Life Ministries Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, was buried, resurrected, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God. We believe in the personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We believe in the personal resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling we are enabled to live a Godly life, with all the Gifts of the Holy Spirit operational in the Body of Christ today. We believe in the Christian's hope, the soon coming return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
