"A Sitting Donkey Cannot Be Led"

By Pastors Roger & Dianne Wilson, from Mississippi

This is another true story about happenings in my life. It seems that when it comes time to minister, and after seeking the Lord for what He wants to bring forth, He keeps bringing up the times of trials and Spiritual lessons that He has taught me. It is also still today, that these lessons are applied to my life, and are ones that all children of God need to walk in the Spirit and by faith.

Hebrews:10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

I began to seek the Lord and ask Him about new circumstances, and different people and events that came into my life, just what was their purpose, and if they were sent by Him or not? Each time I would ask if these are not from you, please remove them.

I would wait upon Him until He would show me, or tell me in what direction I should move. I was afraid I would make a wrong step or turn, and I of course only wanted to be in His perfect will. I did not want to make any mistakes. I had made so many over the years, and suffered so greatly for them. I was afraid to step out until I heard clear from God which way to go. I remember this particular time, that I was uncomfortable with things that were crowding my life. Needless to say I was quite unhappy.

I began to seek God as to why and what they were doing in my life, and if they were from Him? I would pray and ask, but would get no answer. So I would start all over asking Him to show or tell me. This went on for a while, and I guess God tired of my repetitious moans, and seeing my heel gripped dents in the floor from locking in, and my white knuckles holding on because I had no intention of making any moves without Him telling me or showing me.

You see I was wanting Him to answer my way and in my fashion. I asked Him to do it a certain way so I would know it was Him. We cannot put God in a box and expect Him to do as we wish because our wishes are what got us on our knees to start with. Our mistakes, when not led by God will always bring us to our knees. I knew this and I did not want to mess up any more.

Isaiah 55: 8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

So I kept on and as I say He got tired of it AND finally He answered, I never dreamed I would get the answer I received. I can remember this as if it was yesterday. It still rings through my spirit today. He said "A Sitting Donkey Cannot Be Led!" I was shocked to say the least, and had no clue what this meant. A thought went through my head. This is the devil speaking, and before I could rebuke the devil, God spoke again. "Without faith it is impossible to please me, and faith is action. He told me in order to make a donkey move, you have to go before him to lead him just as I must go before you to lead you. He told me I was to walk by faith and not by sight.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him; for He that cometh to God must believe that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

He also told me that it would not be faith if I told you every thing and showed you everything before you moved. He said, for me to be led by the Spirit you must first step out and not remain sitting and stubborn as the donkey, when he sits and refuses to move. He said, if you go too far to the left or too far to the right I will show you and teach you the right path in which to walk, but I can show you nothing until you move out and walk and trust me by faith.

Psalms 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

God told Abraham to go to a place He knew not, and God will do the same for us if we step out like Abraham and trust God to take care of our every need and instruct us in all things.

Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out not knowing whither he went.

So I began to step out and walk and do as I felt the Lord wanted me to do. If I felt confusion or did not feel peace, then I stood still and called on the Lord. I learned to commit all my ways to Him in prayer, and not to lean on my understanding. So this is now a lesson I practice daily. I get up, walk by faith in the direction I feel my heart is leading me, and as I go He speaks and I hear. I no longer sit down like a donkey, but very secure in my faith that He will stop me if I am headed in the wrong direction. For faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct thy paths. So trust in the Lord today by stepping out in faith and being led by God into the perfect will for your life.

 DON'T BE A SITTING DONKEY!

Our Precious Heavenly Father,

Please forgive me for all the times I was stubborn and doubtful and mistrustful concerning your leadings in my life and sitting down like the donkey refusing to move. I come to you by faith submitting myself to you in all things to your perfect will for my life. I ask that you daily lead and guide me in the way you would have me to go.

Let me be a blessing to all who come my way and help me to love all people as you have loved me. Help me to share my faith in you as a testimony for all to see. Help me always to be humble, willing and obedient to what, who, where and the circumstances you want in my life. Crown my head with your revelation knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Lord be glorified in my life. Thank you for hearing and answering this prayer, I ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. AMEN

Word of Life Ministries Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God.  We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, was buried, resurrected, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God.  We believe in the personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.  We believe in the personal resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost.  We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling we are enabled to live a Godly life, with all the gifts of the Holy Spirit operational in the Body of Christ today.  We believe in the Christian's hope, the soon coming return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
