August 1st 2006 Newsletter

Greetings to all our Family, Friends, and Christian Internet Ministries around the world:

It is my joy to be able to spend a few moments withPhoto by Sister Trudy Veerman "A Christian Counselor" you and to share once again the wonderful Words of Life.  The 90th Chapter of the book of Psalms is called, "A Prayer of Moses the man of God".  In this chapter Moses ponders upon the brevity of mans days upon the earth.  He writes that our life is like the grass which in the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; and in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.  Moses died at the age of one hundred twenty (Deut 34:7) and Aaron at the age of one hundred twenty-three (Num 33:39).  The Bible tells us today that the days of our years are threescore years and ten (70 yrs), and even if we live beyond those years, our life time here is all too short, and we quickly fly away.

Psalms 103:15-15 As for man, his days are as grass:  as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.  For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

I am amazed how quickly time is flying by!  Here we are in the month of August and it seems as if it was spring time just a moment ago.  I think the older I get, the faster times goes.  Do you think there is any truth in that? Just this past month we had another funeral to attend in our family, and I had the opportunity to spend time with family members that I have not seen for many years. Our time together brought back so many memories of the days that I had spent with them when I was just a little boy.  I am grown now and in my 50's, and many of those whom I have loved and have known are gone, and new generations are growing up all around me.

Moses prayer was for God to teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.  As we ponder upon our own life, let us consider how short our time here really is.  The Bible says our life is like a vapour that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.  Let us learn to "number our days".  To live our life with the understanding that we only have a certain amount of time for us to be here, and one day God will call us home.  Let us spend our days wisely by applying our hearts to know wisdom.  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  So let us fear God and walk in His ways for the time that remains.

I would like to take this time to welcome back Ben and Anna Soon of, "Uplifting Daily Bread Mission Work for Christ", as this month's guest writer for Hand In Hand Ministries.  Ben and Anna are missionaries who love the Lord and have dedicated their lives to reaching the lost for Christ, and encouraging the Christian to grow in their faith through their weekly email ministry. I am very glad to be able to share with you this encouraging message entitled, "My God Will Meet Your Every Need - If Only You Will Trust and Obey". A message penned from Ben and Anna's heart as they reflect back on the passages of Scriptures that has been a tower of strength and help to them in their Christian Walk.

This month they encourage us through the Scriptures in the Bible, to find help in Gods Word for our daily challenges that we face, by trusting and obeying God for all our needs. August Hand In Hand Publication is now uploaded to the Internet and you can visit their message by clicking on the link. http://www.wordoflifeministry.us/August2006.html

Please take some time to visit Ben and Anna's message this month, I know if you do you will be encouraged greatly by the Word of God in your daily walk.  Will you take a moment and let them know you were there?  These monthly messages has been such a blessing to me and I hope to you also.  You will find their ministries website link, and their email address listed on this months Hand in Hand page.

I would also like to give my sincerest thanks to Dr. Trudy Veerman for her message last month entitled, "The Balm of Gilead".  What a soul filling message that welcomes each of us to know Christ in a more personal way!  A beautiful invitation taken from the Scriptures that portrays Jesus not only as Savour, but as Healer!  He came not only to heal our sick soul and to forgive us of our sins, but to bring healing and health to our physical bodies as well.  In this world of sickness, sin and despair, there is a healing balm; there is a physician who has come to bring health to every area of our life. I am reminded as I write of the passage that says, I come to give life, and to give it more abundantly!  I hope this message is listed at your home on the web, that we may visit often and be reminded of the healing Balm of Gilead. God Bless you and your ministry Sis Trudy!

                                      Welcome!

From time to time I like to introduce to you some of our new contributing members and to let you hear a little bit from them.  Where they are from, who they are, etc.  So at this time I am happy to officially welcome to Hand In Hand Ministries as our newest Contributing Member my mother, Marcella Lewis. It was my Mother who introduced me to Jesus.  She is responsible for training me up from a little child and teaching me the wonderful Words of Life.  I can still remember kneeling down by her bed and reading from the big picture Bible. We would say our prayers each night before bedtime.

Mom doesn't have a computer but I wanted to mention if any of you wanted to write and introduce yourself to here just click on her name below, and it will go to my email address.  I know she would love to make your acquaintance, and I will make sure she gets your email.  I wanted to let you know a little bit about my Mother and asked her to write a few words......

Greetings in Jesus Name,

I feel I should introduce myself to you.  My name is Marcella Lewis.  I live in Ohio.  I am James Lewis's mother.  James asked me if I would write something for the Newsletter, and I told him I'm not a writer, but knowing my son, you don't tell him you can't do anything.  He knows what God Word say's in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me".  That was Paul's message to the church in Philippi when he was in prison.  I thought what if Paul would have said, I can't take this anymore?  But you never read of Paul talking like that.  And we all know the story about Joseph and his brothers (Gen 37:4). How they cast him into the pit and left him to die.  All because of their jealousy.  But does it not say in Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them who love God, who are called according to his purpose".  God had it all planned and later on we see how God used this circumstance for his good (Gen: 45:8).  Joseph told his brothers how God sent him before them to preserve them and to save their lives by a great deliverance (Gen 45: 11-12).

Many of you already know that the Lord took our daughter Barbara, home to be with Him last March 29th, 2005.  And again He took my husband Donald, home this March 13th, 2006.  I have sometimes wondered why my daughter had to die so young, then my husband who was 76 yrs old.  We were married 55 1/2 years.  But you know I am reminded that when we pray for our children's salvation no matter what it takes, God takes us at his word.  It worked for Barbara's good!

God was faithful and brought her back to Him where she belonged.  Praise the Lord!  We also saw how God answered prayers for my husband.  He was saved for quite a few years.  There were different things we prayed about and saw how God answered our prayers.  Even though I still feel an emptiness where Barbara and my husband are concerned, I know that Jesus is my husband now and He will fill that empty spot with himself.  He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you", and I am standing on his promises.  Praise you Jesus.

The Bible tells us to pray, and to pray for one another.  God answers prayer, and we at Word of Life want to agree with you in your prayers, for your needs.  Here is a place where you can leave your prayer request and click the submit button and It comes directly to us! Here is the link to our Prayer Chapel http://www.wordoflifeministry.us/PrayerChapel.html

I wanted to thank each one of you who have written for Hand In Hand Ministries Publication in the past, and for those of you who have pledged to write in the remaining months of 2006.  I am also pleased to have so many of you who have stepped up and pledged to write for the year of 2007.  I love to see what the Lord brings to this table through each one of your lives.  And I look forward to seeing what God has in store for us in the near future.

There are still 4 months left in 2007, if you are interested in sharing the Good News of the Gospel to the world!

Until Then

Words and Music by Stuart Hamblen

My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a trail that's winding always upward,
This troubled world is not my final home.

But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.

The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.

This weary world with all its toil and struggle
May take its toll of misery and strife;
The soul of man is like a waiting falcon;
When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
