St. Mark: 5:35-40 And the same day, when the even
was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto
the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him
even as he was in the ship.
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? I have learned a long time ago that following Christ does not mean that we will never face hardships or trials. Being a Christian does not mean that God will take us around the obstacles that come up before us, but oftentimes He leads us right into the middle of them that we may learn to trust Him to bring us out. Even when we go forth at Christ command, we need not expect to escape the storms; the disciples went forth at His command, yet they encountered one of the fiercest storms they have ever seen, and were in grave danger of loosing their life. One day Jesus came to be baptized of John in the river Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven saying, "Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". This anointing came down from God to fortify His faith, and to strengthen Him for what was about to follow. The Bible says immediately after that, the Spirit led him into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. God knows what is to come before us and He is watching over you. He will build you up and strengthen your faith, so that you may trust him in the fiercest storms, or in the desert trials. Though Christ may seem to delay His coming in our time of distress, it is only that our faith may be tried and strengthened. And that our prayers may be more intense. Christ gave his disciples a gentle rebuke, saying, "What happened to your faith?" Why did you not shout victory in the very face of the storm, and say to the raging winds and waves, "You can do me no harm", for Jesus Christ my Saviour is on board with me!! How much easier it is to trust the Lord when the sun is shining and things are going our way, than it is when the night time is about us, and the storms begin to rage. We never know how much real faith we have until it is put to the test in some fierce storm or desert place. That is why Jesus Christ is on board with us today. You may be someone today who is right there in the midst of a great storm in your life. You find yourself struggling against all that has come against you. The waters are all around you and there seems to be no way of escape. Maybe you feel as though there is no hope. The disciples that were on the ship that day felt the very same way. They struggled to keep control, when the winds and waves were flooding over them. They felt hopeless and as if they were going to perish. But there is good news my friend. You are not alone; Jesus Christ our "Saviour" is with you right in the midst of your storm, this very day, and in this very hour of your need. He promise's in His word, "I will never leave you, neither will I forsake you". His desire for you today is that you would not be afraid but only believe. I pray that you may be encouraged today even in the midst of your trials, to brave the stormy tempest with faith and courage in the Lord. Remember Jesus is on board with us today, and He will bring us to the other side!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back this month as our guest writer, Pastor Devin and Simla Rajiah, from the island of Mauritius located in the Indian Ocean. They pastor the Bambous Assembly of God church where they are experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit moving in fresh and exciting ways. This is a must read message that I believe God is speaking to all of us about. He is revealing a time of Blessings being poured out upon His people. Here is a little excerpt from Pastor Devin's message.... There’s going to be increase and multiplication! Listen to what God said through the prophet Joel: "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…"(Joel 2:25) God loves to restore what has been devoured in our lives. This is His plan and purpose. Not only does He want to accomplish personal breakthroughs in your life and bring restoration to those devastated areas, He also wants to anoint you to minister blessings to others. This year is going to be a year of seeing the power of the curse being totally broken. God wants to change the lives of these people. I've come to realize that when God restores, He brings an increase! I would like to invite you to read more on this very important message, and to know of Gods plan for your life! You can visit Pastor Devin's message this month, by clicking on the Hand in Hand Publication link listed above, or visiting us on the Internet at.... http://www.wordoflifeministry.us/February2007.html
