Monitoring Your Heart

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

Recently Jody and I went to the Doctors office for a check-up, and the nurse took our Blood-Pressure.  To our surprise, our Blood-Pressure was elevated above what it should be. So the Doctor asked us to start monitoring our hearts Blood-Pressure, every morning and evening, and record it down in a book.

By our visit to the Doctors office, we learned about many things that can have an effect on our Heart and our Blood Pressure, and what we can do to lower it. Within just one week alone, my wife and I have seen our Blood Pressure's numbers come down considerable. Monitoring our heart and keeping a close look at the numbers can give the Doctor a realistic view of the condition of our heart and of our health.

When God looks at us, the Bible tells that He looks at our hidden heart. He sees what is really inside us. For it's out of the abundance of the things in our heart that our mouth answers. And its usually when we are under pressure that our mouth reveals those things that are hidden.

St Matthew 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

I think it would be good for us to take note and monitor the condition of our heart.  The heart that God sees. Out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies. These are the things that defile us.

Psalms 139: 23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Let us take a close look at our own heart and see if there is any sinful way hidden deep within. Can we find unforgiveness that we may be holding onto? What about anger, and hatred, that stirs up within us from time to time? Maybe we are holding onto resentments over something that someone did to us a long time ago? It may be that we have allowed bitterness to creep into our heart.

These are some of the things that our Heavenly Father sees when He looks upon our heart. These are the things that if allowed to fester within us, will cause us to be lonely, and sick, and will eventually destroy any good thing within our life.

1John 1:8-9 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If today you have monitored the condition of your heart, and have found some things there that should not be, there is only one person who can wash away all our sins. Let Jesus Christ come into your heart today. Give Him access to enter into those areas of your life.

He will wash your heart with a healing balm that can break away and dissolve that stony heart.  And He will give you a brand new, clean, and healthy heart, and will restore a right spirit within your life.
