                   Murmuring in their Tents

Psalm 106:24-25 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:  But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

We the church, often convince ourselves to be so far removed from the children of Israel.  Those ungrateful children of Israel.  They had seen the mighty power of God time after time, yet each time, they would forget His power.  There, as if hidden from God, they would begin to murmur.

Never happy, never content, they always had to blame someone.  That someone was poor Moses.  He become so frustrated with them that in (Numbers 11:15), he asked the Lord just to kill him.  He had fathered them even as one would nourish an infant (Numbers 11:12).

How many times Moses went to God on their behalf, and extended them His mercy?  What they did not realize was that when they murmured against Moses, they were in fact murmuring against God.  Had they forgotten His judgment or wrath?   Were they so in pride that they couldn't see it?

There is an epidemic of murmuring within not only the church, but in the workplace, amongst neighbors, even in families. Sometimes the pastor may be the target of complaints and blame, just as Moses was.  It's not those of the world that are murmuring, but we the church.  We cannot let murmuring destroy our witness.  It's time to bridle our tongues (James 3:1-18) The coming of the Lord is too near, and the enemy is trying every tactic he can to not further the kingdom.  He knows his time is short.

Let us not fool ourselves in thinking that like the children of Israel, God doesn't see us in our tents. But oh brothers and sisters, He does, and He isn't pleased.

I would pray that we would be mindful of every word that comes out of our mouth, and that our conversation would be pleasing to Him (Philippians 4:8). Let's not give place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27) The next time we are tempted to murmur, lets turn those murmurings into praise.  Guaranteed, that will put satan on the run!

It is my joy to introduce to you, and welcome to Hand in Hand Publications, this months guest writer, Reverend Willy and Jeanine Christome.  They pastor the Saint Pierre Assembly of God Church, in the district of MOKA, in the Republic of Mauritius.  We are blessed this month to have Pastor Willy join hands with us as He ministers a very powerful message entitled, "More than Conquerors".   Here is an excerpt from Pastor Willy's message....

Our God is a winner. This is exemplified by the victorious life of the Lord Jesus Christ who by his powerful ministry, atoning death, and glorious resurrection completely defeated satan, sin, the world and death. In John 16:33 Jesus says: “Take heart I have overcome the world.”  The Lord has called us to live a victorious life.  The Holy Spirit our Counselor and Comforter has been sent to be with us and abide in us forever.

This message will inspire you to press onward in your faith, and in your trust in the Lord,  especially in hard and difficult times.  I would like to invite you to visit his page this month by clicking on the Hand in Hand Publication link listed above.  I know you will be blessed!
